Hinsdale Public Library Lends Mac Laptops

The Hinsdale Public Library Foundation recently funded the purchase of six, thirteen-inch Macbook Pro computers. Four laptops will be available for in-house checkout at the Reference and Adult Services Desk beginning Monday, July 16. Laptops will be loaned to HPL cardholders, high school age and older on a first-come, first-served basis. In August, two more Macbooks will be installed in Youth Services for children’s use.

The Library continues to seek creative ways to provide technology opportunities to children and adults. Executive Director Karen Keefe said, “One request that we heard over and over again at our focus groups this winter was, “It would be great if the Library could have Macs. That’s what our kids use in school.” Thanks to generosity of our Library Foundation we were able to fast-track this project and get half a dozen new computers in place before the new school year.”

The Library and community appreciate the Foundation’s continued support of this initiative. Their support is made possible through community donations and its annual fundraiser, Dining at Dewey’s. This year’s event will be on Saturday, November 3.
