2012 Persons of Impact Awards

ANDY SHAW TO  MODERATE LWVLGA ‘PERSONS OF IMPACT’ AWARDS

Andy Shaw, President and CEO of the Better Government Association will be the guest speaker and  Master of Ceremonies at the ‘Persons of Impact’ Awards benefit hosted by the La Grange Area League of Women Voters on Wednesday, September 5th, at 5:30 P.M. at the Mayslake
Peabody Estate.

“The Persons of Impact award has been created to honor an individual, a non-profit organization or a governmental entity for demonstrated leadership and significant action in educating and empowering citizens to participate in our democracy.  It is principally intended to focus on the ‘changemakers’ who reside or work in the La Grange League’s service area which encompasses 14 villages or cities in the near west suburbs of Chicago,”
according to Jean Klotter, President of the La Grange Area League.

The 2012 Honorees are:  Paul Houston (Division
Chair, Social Studies Department, Lyons Township High School} for his outstanding support of the League  with
student voter registration at Lyons Township High School and for his commitment to enriching academic studies with civic responsibility on topics such as, the role of the media in elections, human trafficking and constitutional ballot
issues.  Andrianna Peterson ( Assistant Village Manager, La Grange) for her work as a dedicated ‘public servant’ of the
highest caliber and for the contribution of her many administrative talents and connections in support of League programs that inform the community residents
on issues of public policy. Barbara Yong (Attorney and Partner at Golan and Christie Law firm, Chicago) for outstanding support of the League for the last
20 years and for her passionate pursuit of equality for women in the work force, especially her work to eliminate the wage gap between women and men.

The event is open to the public.  Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails (beer, wine and soft drinks) will be included in the
