Family: Wife Sharon; sons Justin, 27, and Ryan, 25; daughter Megan, 22; and a miniature dachshund named Ruby.

Education: BBA in accountancy, University of Notre Dame; J.D., University of Illinois College of Law.    

Occupation: Lawyer

Previous elected offices: Elected Hinsdale village trustee in 2007, and elected Hinsdale village president in 2009.

Applicable experience qualifying you for the position:  My experience as a trustee and as village president, and my training in accountancy and law.

What is the primary reason you are running for this office? 

I want to give back to the community that has been my home for the past 25 years. I also want to continue initiatives we started in my first four years as village president, including: fixing our roads and sewers, doing everything possible to revitalize our central business district, and ensuring that the village is on a firm and sustainable financial footing.      

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected

Continuing to implement the 15–year Master Infrastructure Plan. 

What is your favorite thing about Hinsdale? 

The residents. I can honestly say that my six years of service to the village have been a true pleasure.  Even when residents have felt strongly about an issue that has come before the village board, I have been uniformly impressed with the consideration they have shown to their fellow residents and to the trustees,  and with their willingness to work with me and the trustees to achieve the best outcome for all concerned.    

What is your least favorite thing about Hinsdale? 

Being part of the financially dysfunctional State of Illinois. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about that. 

What do you think is the role of the village president in Hinsdale? 

To be sensitive to the concerns of residents, whether those concerns impact the entire community or just one resident. Residents should always feel free to contact me about what concerns them. The village president is also responsible for ensuring that residents’ concerns are promptly brought to the attention of the village board. And, when controversial issues are brought to the board, it is the president’s responsibility to attempt to build consensus among the trustees.
