Clarendon Hills to Study Benefits of Electric Aggregation

Village studying electrical aggregation  

Recently, several communities () have been successful in lowering residents electrical rates through municipal electrical aggregation. This is a fairly new concept by which the municipality negotiates an electrical supply rate on behalf of its residents. In these situations, ComEd continues to provide distribution and billing for electricity.  The Village is now considering whether pursuing electrical aggregation would benefit Clarendon Hills. If there is support for "opt-out" aggregation, a referendum would be required in November. In "opt-out" aggregation all electrical supply for the municipality, with some exceptions, is switched to the new supplier unless the resident specifically opts out of participating.  Village staff will be presenting their research and recommendation at the June 4 Village Board meeting. The Village will continue to keep residents informed on the issue as it progresses.

Refuse Amnesty Day is May 21 and May 23

The Village's annual Refuse Amnesty Day will be May 21 for those who receive Monday refuse collection and May 23 for those who receive Wednesday collection. Those residents in single-family homes who receive refuse and recycling collection through Republic Services are eligible to participate. Amnesty Day is a one-time annual event. If you miss the pick-up, it will not be rescheduled. On Amnesty Day, residents will have the opportunity to dispose of their accumulated unwanted items free of charge. As a reminder, all material must be bundled or in a container, with the exception of bulk items. Containers and bundles should weigh no more than 50 pounds. Construction waste is limited to 2 cubic yards and must be bundled or in a container with all nails removed or bent over to prevent injury to crews. All refuse for Amnesty Day must be placed at the curb. Hazardous materials will not be accepted. Refuse should not be set out earlier than one half hour before sunset on the day before collection. Please note that yard waste is not included in Amnesty Day and will require yard waste stickers as normal.

Village vehicle stickers available for purchase online

Residents now have the convenient option to purchase their Village vehicle stickers online through the Village's website at www.clarendonhills.us/billpay.cfm. 

Vehicle stickers must be renewed by July 1. A 50 percent penalty is charged for renewals purchased after July 31. All vehicles registered to or kept in the Village require a vehicle sticker. In addition to purchasing vehicle stickers online, residents may visit the Police Department or Village Hall during regular office hours or mail in their vehicle sticker renewal form or payment. Reduced-rate senior Vehicle stickers will not be available for purchase online, but may be purchased at the Police Department and Village Hall. Vehicle sticker renewal forms will also be distributed with water bills in early June.

The Village continues to expand the various transactions that residents can make online, including the ability to pay various fees and bills online. The service is provided by the Illinois State Treasurer office. Residents can now pay their water bills, parking tickets and purchase vehicle stickers online by visiting www.clarendonhills.us/billpay.cfm. There is a small fee for using this service, which is designed to cover the cost of the transaction. Residents can use their MasterCard, Discover, American Express or e-Check to make payments.

Community blood drive set for June 7

The Village of Clarendon Hills, , , Clarendon Hills Chamber of Commerce and the are hosting a blood drive from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the library in cooperation with Life Source. Connect with ComEd

ComEd recently launched a number of tools to help residents stay connected and receive information from ComEd during an electrical outage. ComEd's online outage map allows customers to view all outages in the ComEd service area and to get details on specific areas, including estimated restoration time and status of crews working to resolve problems. Customers can also text the word OUT to 26633 to report an outage and get updates when power is restored. You can also access outage and billing information through ComEd's mobile app for Android and iPhones, available through ComEd's website or through the app stores.

Daisy Dash registration now open

Registration for the 2012 Daisy Dash, an annual 5K race and Kids Fund Run in downtown Clarendon Hills, is now open. The race will be Sunday, June 17. To register, visit www.daisydash.com.
