54,000-Square-Foot Cancer Center Planned for Hinsdale

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital's proposed development would be located on Ogden Avenue near I-294.

A new Adventist Hinsdale Hospital cancer center off of I-294 at Ogden Avenue in Hinsdale is among the items being voted on by the Village of Hinsdale Board of Trustees' Zoning and Public Safety (ZPS) Committee Monday night at Memorial Hall.

The Adventist Cancer Institute would total 54,000 square feet—40,000 for the cancer center itself and 14,000 for an imaging center—and sit at the northeast corner of Ogden and Salt Creek Lane, a currently vacant lot but for one unused building slated for demolition.

"The design of the facility is respectful of the city of Hinsdale," the cancer center website reads. "Full of light and soft colors, it will blend in with the neighborhood and vastly improve the aesthetics of this gateway to our community while promoting comfort and peacefulness."

The ZPS Committee Monday night will vote on the cancer center's exterior appearance and site plan review. If approved, those items will go before the entire Hinsdale Board of Trustees for a final vote.

The next full board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3.

The cost of the cancer center is expected to come in at $48 million, according to the cancer center website.

Three community meetings were held in March for neighbors and other residents to ask questions and express concerns.
