Two Vans Broken Into During Same Time Frame: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, AUG. 23

Van Broken Into

An unknown burglar forced entry into a Mercedes Sprinter work van parked in a lot on south Lincoln Street near 1st Street between 11 a.m. Aug. 22 and 5:45 a.m. Aug. 23.

Entry was gained through a driver’s side window. Nothing was missing from the vehicle, but police believe it was an attempted burglary. 

Another Van Broken Into

An unknown burglar broke into a Chevy construction van and stole from it more than $400 worth of tools while the van was parked in the 100 block of South Vine Street between 4 p.m. Aug. 22 and 7:19 a.m. Aug. 23. Because of the location of the incident, the time frame, and the fact that the vehicle hit was a work van, police think it is related to the Lincoln Street burglary detailed above.

The van was entered via a window that was pried open. The missing items include a $120 circular saw, $110 cordless drill, $90 drywall screw gun, $75 tool belt and $50 orbital sander.  

Parking Meter Stolen

A parking meter in in a lot in the 10 block of south Garfield Street parking lot near downtown Hinsdale was taken off its pole between 5 a.m. Aug. 22 and 9:44 a.m. Aug. 23.

TUESDAY, AUG. 21

Criminal Damage

A window on the south side of Monroe School, 210 N. Madison St., was broken between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 6 a.m. Aug. 21.

The broken window is near an area where youngsters often throw lacrosse balls against the building.
