Thieves Steal Laptops, Children’s Movies from Unlocked Cars

Hinsdale police reports, April 7-8.

Thieves raked in the bounty after grabbing items from unlocked cars during the overnight hours of April 7 to April 8, Hinsdale Police said.

Something frightened off a would-be thief who ditched a computer bag and laptop under a bush in the 600 block of Woodside sometime before 8 a.m. April 8.

According to the report, a resident contacted police after she found the items on her property.

The owner was contacted and said someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway.

A car was also reported burgled in the 200 block of Justina St. sometime before 8:15 p.m. April 8.

Police said someone entered the vehicle and stole a case containing 25 children’s movies from the center console.

There were no signs of forced entry and the owner is unsure if the car was locked.

I'm sorry...but WHO is stupid enough to leave a laptop in an unlocked (or a locked) car??

People doing stupid stuff like this (leaving valuables in unlocked cars) is what attracts the criminals to our neighborhood in the first place. If there were not so many easy targets, they would go somewhere else.
