Swastikas, 'Lewd Words' Painted Onto Street Signs, Cars in Hinsdale

Swastikas Found on Signs
Police say an unknown person painted lewd pictures and inappropriate words and symbols on parked vehicles and street signs in the 400 block of North County Line Road, 500 block of Ravine Road, and 300 block of Phillippa Street between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and 8 a.m. Oct. 12.
“The graffiti included swastikas, a Star of David, and other lewd words and depictions,” Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said in an email. “We believe this is a random act of vandalism and that it was not targeted toward any specific person.”

Wodka said Tuesday the public services department has begun the replacement of the signs.

Car Keyed in Commuter Lot
An unknown suspect keyed a vehicle parked in the Garfield commuter parking lot between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 10, police said.
