St. Patrick's Day Police Crackdown: 3 DUIs, 34 Seatbelt Violations

The Hinsdale Police Department cracked down on late-night violators from March 14 to March 17.

The following is a release from the Hinsdale Police Department:

In an effort to save lives and reduce serious injuries, the Hinsdale Police Department, along with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country, participated inan enforcement initiative to crackdown on drunk and unbelted drivers. During the aggressive enforcement period that ran from March 14 through March 17, three motorists were arrested for DUI, 34 motorists were issued citations for failing to wear their safety belts, 24 motorists were cited for speeding, three motorists were arrested for driving on a suspended/revoked/no valid license, five motorists were cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, one citation was issued for possession of cannabis, and 17 citations were issued to motorists for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

The Hinsdale Police Department received a state grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to participate in this effort. Grant funding allows the police departmentto assign additional officers for dedicated enforcement of the seat belt, driving under the influence and speed laws.
