Residential Burglary, DUI Among Recent Hinsdale Offenses

Possession of cannabis, criminal damage to vehicle, and hit and run were also reported by the Hinsdale Police Department.

Residential burglary—An unknown suspect broke into a home in the 300 block of South Washington Street by forcing entry through the front door and stole jewelry from a female victim between 2:55 p.m. and 10:47 p.m. Jan. 7, according to the .

No one was home at the time of the burglary and the value of the missing jewelry is still being determined.

DUI—Michael A. Jones, of 215 W. 59th St. Apt. 5 in Hinsdale, was charged with driving under the influence when he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and submitted to a breath test that indicated his blood alcohol content was greater than .08 after a speeding stop in the 600 block of West 55th Street at 1:15 a.m. Jan. 7.

Jones, 30, was released to appear in court.

Possession of cannabis—James P. Arlowe Jr., of 6650 Sunset Ave. in Countryside, was charged with possession of cannabis when he was found to have a substance that tested positive for the drug during a traffic stop for not wearing a seatbelt and having multiple objects hanging off a rearview mirror near the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Madison Street at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 5.

An open alcohol container was also found in the 23-year-old’s vehicle. Arlowe Jr. was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, not wearing a seatbelt, and obstructed view in addition to cannabis possession. 

Criminal damage to village-owned vehicle—An unknown suspect smashed with a rock the passenger-side window of a Village of Hinsdale vehicle while it was parked unoccupied in the parking lot of Hinsdale Public Works, 217 Symonds Dr., between 4 p.m. Jan. 6 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9.

The window’s replacement cost $200.

Criminal damage to property—An unknown suspect damaged the vehicle of a female victim with an unknown liquid substance between 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Jan. 9, a timeframe during which the vehicle was parked in the 10 block of South Washington Street.

The cost of the damage was unknown at the time of the report, according to police.

Hit and run—An unknown suspect is believed to have hit a vehicle parked in the Katherine Legge Memorial Park parking lot between 12:20 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. Jan. 7, causing damage to the victim’s passenger-side door and side-view mirror.

The case is pending investigation.
