Police Urge Clarendon Hills Residents to Report Suspicious Solicitors

The following information is from a press release from the Clarendon Hills Police Department:

With the recent burglary on the 100 Block of Prospect St. in Clarendon Hill, the Police Department asks that residents report any suspicious unsolicited persons ringing door bells by dialing 9-1-1.

Burglars target unoccupied homes and often ring door bells to check if people are present. If people are present they will likely pretend to be selling a service, or provide another excuse. Solicitors are required to be permitted by the Village.

With the upcoming spring holidays, residents are reminded to inform the Police Department of extended absences from your home by submitting the Unoccupied Residence Form located on the Village Website

Residents are also advised to avoid the tell-tale signs being out of town such as piled up newspapers, or an unplowed driveway or walk.  If you have any questions please call the Clarendon Hills Police Department at 630-286-5460.
