Two Related Car Break-ins: Police Blotter

SUNDAY, OCT. 14

Air Let Out of Car's Tires

A resident from the 5700 block of Concord Lane reported at 4:37 a.m. that someone had let the air out of her car's tires and rolled down the car's windows during an overnight rainstorm. The turn signal, cruise control and wheel tilt levers had all been damaged, as well.

Police said they have a suspect, but nobody has been charged.

2 Related Car Break-Ins Reported

The driver's side windows of two cars parked in the same area were shattered overnight between Oct. 13-14, and a $300 GPS device was stolen from one.

Police said an officer was called to the 500 block of Willowcreek Court at 8:41 a.m., where the driver's side window of a male victim's car had been shattered, but nothing was taken from inside.

Leaving the scene, police said, the officer saw that a car parked nearby in the 500 block of Carlysle Drive had a similarly shattered window. He alerted the owner, who discovered that the GPS device had been taken from his windshield. The owner then told police he heard a loud bang around 1:30 a.m. and saw someone in dark clothing walking westbound on Carlysle. 

There are no suspects at this time. Police said they believe the two incidents are related.

SATURDAY, OCT. 13

Hit-and-Run Reported

A complainant reported that her SUV had been hit by a driver while it was parked in the 200 block of Holmes Avenue between 6:15 p.m. and 7:58 p.m. The driver's side mirror was damaged. There were no witnesses.

FRIDAY, OCT. 12

False Tax Return Filed

A complainant from the 10 block of Woodstock Avenue reported at 2:28 p.m. that the IRS notified her that someone filed multiple fraudulent 2011 tax returns using the complainant's Social Security number. In order for the IRS to investigate, police said, the complainant had to file a police report.
