Police Blotter: Cash-filled Purse Taken from Car, Stolen Phone Recovered

WEDNESDAY, MAY 30
Car Break-in
An unknown burglar broke into a car parked at ManorCare Health Services, 600 W. Ogden Ave., and stole a $389 purse containing $500 in cash between 9:45 p.m. May 29 and 6:30 a.m. May 30.
The burglar shattered a passenger-side window of the car to gain entry.

Hit and Run
An unknown driver hit a van parked in the alley behind the 10 block of North Washington Street and left without providing information between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The estimate of the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

Phone Stolen, Recovered
An employee of BP Amoco, 149 E. Ogden Ave., reported to police that someone stole the employee's $100 cell phone three days earlier at 12:55 p.m. May 26 while the employee and phone were at the gas station.
Hinsdale Police Department Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said the phone was found abandoned at the Oak Brook post office on May 30 and returned to the victim.
SATURDAY, MAY 19
Identity Theft
A resident from the 300 block of East Hickory Street reported that an unknown person attempted to use the resident's identity to open a credit card in Brooklyn, N.Y., at 12 p.m.
No money loss was suffered.
