MONDAY, JULY 16

Home Burglary Attempted

An unknown suspect damaged a deadbolt lock on the back door of a home in the 600 block of south Madison Street between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. A security latch was still on the door and no entry was made to the home.

Hit and Run

An unknown driver struck a traffic sign and mailbox in the 5600 block of south County Line Road at 1:55 a.m. An estimate of the damage was unavailable at the time the incident was reported.

Man Hits Pole, Gets DUI

George R. Foy, 21, of the 6600 block of Shady Lane, Burr Ridge, was charged with DUI after he was observed to be under the influence by police investigating a one-car accident near the intersection of 59th Street and Old Surrey Road at 2:44 a.m.

Foy crashed into a utility pole near the intersection and was transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for treatment. After he was released from the hospital, he was processed by Hinsdale Police and charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released to appear in court.

THURSDAY, JULY 12

Runner Bit by Dog

A female runner was jogging in the 600 block of West North Street at 9:35 a.m. when a medium-sized black dog that was with an unknown passing runner bit her on the thigh.

The dog owner, who is described to be a white female in her 40s, continued running without checking on the victim. The victim did not require medical attention.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 11

Van Break-in Attempted

An unknown suspect tried unsuccessfully to punch the door locks and enter a work van parked in a lot in the 300 block of west 59th Street between 6 p.m. July 10 and 5:30 a.m. July 11. An estimated cost of the damage was not available at the time the incident was reported.

GPS Stolen from Burglarized Vehicle

An unknown burglar broke a window to gain entry to a vehicle parked in a lot in the 900 block of North Elm Street between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and stole from it a bag containing a $240 GPS device and other miscellaneous documents.

Hospital Employee Charged with Theft

Enrique M. Rangel, 55, of the 2500 block of South 59th Court, Cicero, was charged with theft after police said the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital employee had a $800 iPhone believed to have been stolen from a female hospital employee between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. July 10.

The phone had been stolen from the female employee while it was sitting on a break room table. Police located the phone the next day using Apple’s locating features, and returned it to its owner. Rangel was charged and released to appear in court.
