Hinsdale police reports, May 14-20

MONDAY, MAY 20

Hit and Run I

Someone damaged a man's car while it was parked in a parking lot on the 300 block of West 59th Street, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 9 p.m. May 19 and 8 a.m. on this day, according to police. The man noticed a transfer of white paint on his vehicle when he returned.

Hit and Run II

Someone damaged a woman's car while it was parked in a parking lot on the first block of Grant Square, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 12:55 p.m., according to police. The woman reported damage to her driver's side and rear driver's side doors. A damage cost estimate was not available at the time of this report.

Bicycle and Helmet Theft

A bicycle and bicycle helmet valued at just under $500 were stolen from a backyard patio area behind a resident's house on the 300 block of Forest Road. The theft occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. May 14 and 8:20 a.m. on this day, according to police.

TUESDAY, MAY 14

Familiar Peeping Tom

A female at her home on the 800 block of Chanticleer Lane reported that someone was looking through a window at her while she was partially undressed. The female recognized the suspect as William Drew Daniel, 28, who lives on the same block, police said.

Police at 8:39 p.m. quickly located Daniel at his home. He was charged with disorderly conduct and released to appear in court.

Hinsdale Central Student Charged

A 16-year-old Hinsdale boy was seen at 8:40 a.m. scratching a vehicle in the faculty parking lot at Hinsdale Central High School on the 5500 block of South Grant, police said. A damage cost estimate was not available at the time of this report.

The teen, who did not actually know the owner of the vehicle, was charged with criminal damage to a vehicle. He was released to a parent and the matter was forwarded to a juvenile diversion program.
