Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

WHEATON

Who Let This Guy Walk?

An unknown male subject pushed a cart full of items out of the south exit doors of a store without paying for the merchandise on the 600 block of South County Farm Road, police said. The incident occurred between 10:05 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. Sept. 10, according to security video from the store.

Call Out The Caller

A man running a suspected phone scam got an unexpected call Sept. 16 from a Downers Grove police officer.

The officer made contact with the man after the man called a resident earlier that day. The man claimed to be with the New York Division of the FBI, according to a police report. During the 3:56 p.m. call, the man claimed that the resident was being investigating for check fraud. She was told to pay off a $704 fine by going to Walmart or Walgreens and purchasing a Green Pak card, police said.

Police dialed the number that the woman was provided. After the officer identified himself as being with the Downers Grove Police Department in Illinois, the man replied "I did not call you." After a brief exchange, the man said "do what you have to do" and hung up. The officer's Google search of the number came up with multiple posts about people receiving similar calls from a man claiming to be someone from the FBI. For more details, see the full report.


Take the Dysons and Run

An unknown white male took two purple Dyson Animal vacuums from a store on the 2900 block of Finley Road. The incident occurred sometime between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at a display on the lower level of the store. The man ran from the store out of the lower level North doors, according to a police report.

Yep, Only $320 Missing…

Police received a missing brown wallet from someone who asked that it be returned to the owner. An officer made contact with the owner and asked how he lost it. The owner remembers having the wallet between 11:30 a.m. and noon Sept. 4 when he went to a gas station at 63rd Street and Janes in Woodridge. He then went to the Illinois Secretary of State office in Naperville and noticed his wallet was missing. The owner checked the wallet's contents, which was all there except for $320, according to a police report.


LEMONT

Crown Royal Caper

Someone took five bottles of Crown Royal at 10:49 a.m. Sept. 13 on the 12700 block of Archer Avenue, police said. The suspect then fled the scene in a red Ford pickup.


DARIEN

Are You Even Old Enough to Drive?

A Darien juvenile was sent to juvenile court after he was seen trying to leave the library with a car that had been reported stolen.

Police reported that a car was taken from a parking lot on the 1100 block of Plainfield Road sometime between 7 p.m. Sept. 1 and 10 a.m. Sept. 2. On Sept. 3 the car was located at the Indian Prairie Library in Darien.

About 45 minutes after the car was located, police saw three juveniles try to leave with it. They were arrested and released to their parents. Darien police said one juvenile was a direct file to juvenile court.

CLARENDON HILLS

Let Me Guess … Running Late?

Ryan Scarpelli, 29, of the 800 block of South Salem Drive, Schaumburg, was issued a ticket for speeding 108 mph in a 55 mph zone. An officer stopped Scarpelli at 10:48 a.m. Sept. 16 on southbound Route 83 between Ogden and Chicago avenues, according to a police report.
