Oak Lawn Man Charged With Burr Ridge Burglary

Kenneth Jackson has been charged with a residential burglary from May as well as aggravated battery of a police officer.

Burr Ridge Police Chief John Madden announced Monday the arrest of an Oak Lawn man charged with residential burglary and aggravated battery of a police officer, according to a Burr Ridge Police Department release sent Monday morning.

Kenneth Jackson, 53, whose last known address is in the 9800 block of south Keeler Avenue, Oak Lawn, was taken into custody at 3:45 a.m. Friday near the intersection of 57th and Elm streets in Hinsdale, where he was located on foot.

"Jackson was under surveillance as a possible suspect in earlier burglaries," Burr Ridge Deputy Chief Tim Vaclav said in an email Monday.

A warranted search of Jackson’s home Saturday night turned up evidence from a May 22 burglary in the 0-10 block of Shiloh Court, where a money clip and watch went missing after the home was entered via an unlocked patio door.

Jackson resisted arrest Friday morning and a short foot chase resulted in minor injuries to a Burr Ridge officer, police said.

The Oak Lawn man was charged with residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, aggravated battery to a police officer, a Class 2 felony, possession of stolen property, a Class 3 felony, and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.

Vaclav said Jackson has two prior burglary convictions.

“When taken into custody, Jackson was in possession of several items that the Burr Ridge and Hinsdale Police believe are stolen,” the release reads. “The departments are seeking assistance in identifying jewelry and flatware that may have been taken from homes during the last week.”

Jackson was transported to DuPage County Jail to await a bond hearing after he was processed at the Burr Ridge Police Department.

“The arrest of Jackson is the result of a long investigation where Burr Ridge detectives worked closely with outside agencies, including the Hinsdale Police Department, the Orland Park Police Department, the Oak Lawn Police Department, and the Highland Park Police Department to identify Jackson,” the Burr Ridge release reads.
