Hinsdale's New Fire Chief Sworn In

Rick Ronovsky was promoted to chief after 26 years in the Hinsdale Fire Department.

The Memorial Hall boardroom was a lot busier than normal Tuesday night.

A crew of family and friends was on hand to witness Rick Ronovsky be sworn in as the 's new chief during the  Board of Trustees meeting. 

Village President Tom Cauley swore in Ronovsky, who has served in the department for 26 years as a firefighter, firefighter-paramedic, lieutenant, and captain. Ronovsky replaces former Chief Michael Kelly, who is leaving the department .

During an interview for  last week, Ronovsky said he was "honored and glad" to be selected as Kelly's replacement.

"I’m looking forward to the opportunities and the challenges that the position of chief brings," Ronovsky said.

Ronovsky is 51 years old. He lives in La Grange Park with his wife, Peggy, and has two children in their 20s.
