Hinsdale Police Bust 48 Juveniles at Underage Drinking Party

Some of the partygoers fled the scene, but over 40 were cited, police said.

Nearly 50 juveniles were issued citations for underage drinking at a May 10 party, Hinsdale police said.

A total of 48 juveniles submitted to breath tests that indicated they had consumed alcohol. Police were dispatched at 8:07 p.m. to the party, which took place on the 700 block of North Oak Street, according to a report.

"There were more than 50 people at the party," said Mark Wodka, Hinsdale deputy police chief, in an e-mail. "There were attendees that fled prior to and upon police arrival."

The homeowner’s son was issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor and allowing persons under 21 to gather and consume alcohol on the property. The homeowner was not home when police arrived and is not being charged with any criminal offenses at this time, Wodka said.

After the juveniles were issued local ordinance citations, they were released to their parents. The age range of those identified were 15 to 17 years old, according to police.
