Hinsdale Man Charged With Domestic Battery of Brother

Criminal damage to a local school is also among crimes recently reported by Hinsdale Police.

Domestic battery—A 48-year-old Hinsdale man was charged with domestic battery after he punched his 54-year-old brother at 11:55 a.m. July 17, according to Hinsdale Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka.

Paul W. Rush, of 702 S. Stough St., punched his brother in the eye and wrestled him to the ground at Rush’s home, Wodka said. No medical treatment for the victim was necessary. Rush was arrested, charged, and transported to DuPage County Jail for a bond hearing.

Possession of cannabis—An 18-year-old Hinsdale man was charged with possession of cannabis after Hinsdale Police officers caught him running through the backyards of residents in the 500 block of North Vine St. at 1:30 a.m. July 16.

Spencer R. Salchow, of 822 S. Madison St., was found by officers to be in possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana. He was cited and released on bond to appear in court.

Criminal damage to vehicle—An unknown suspect damaged the windshield and hood of a female victim’s 2002 Volkswagen Beetle that was parked unoccupied in the 300 block of Ravine Road between 2 a.m. and 9:23 a.m. July 11.

The cost of the damage was unknown by Hinsdale Police at the time of the report.

Criminal damage to property—Unknown suspects damaged the bike rack and window screen of Madison School, 210 N. Madison St., between 12 p.m. July 7 and 1:59 July 12.

Criminal damage to vehicle—A female victim reported to Hinsdale that an unknown suspect shattered the windshield of her 1999 Saturn with a rock in the 400 block of South Jackson Street between 10 p.m. July 14 and 7 a.m. July 15.

Nothing was taken from the vehicle and the damage will cost $500 to repair. 

Telephone harassment—A male victim from the 5500 block of South Madison Street reported to Hinsdale Police receiving text messages of a harassing nature on July 13 between 11:43 a.m. and 1:52 p.m. from an acquaintance, according to Wodka.
