Hinsdale Man Arrested After Attempted Kmart Theft

Elmhurst police found Michael J. Addison to be driving with a suspended license.

Michael J. Addison, 25, 215 W. 59th St. #19 in Hinsdale, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license after police responded to Kmart, 303 S. Route 83, for a theft in progress at 6:33 p.m. June 5.

Police said Addison and another man attempted to take four televisions, but store security stepped in when the men left the store to move their vehicle closer to the building. Police stopped the vehicle and discovered the driver, Addison, had a suspended license. He was also charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to wear a seat belt.

The front passenger was arrested for attempted retail theft but released because personnel at Kmart refused to file a complaint. A third suspect was released at the scene because he had not gone inside the store.
