Burglar Scared Off

Police believe someone attempted to break into a home in the 800 block of South Bruner Street at 7:34 p.m. Jan. 4, but was scared off by an activated burglar alarm.

Entry to the home was not made and nothing appears to be missing, police said, but there were pry marks found on the back door.

Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said residents often do not activate alarm systems because of complacency or because they don’t like the nuisance of false alarms. However, he said, the police department encourages residents to always activate burglar alarm systems when away from home.
