Hinsdale Central Worker Charged With Stealing Student's Coat

Trespassing Teen Charged

A 17-year-old male juvenile from Hinsdale was charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful use of alcohol after he was found inside the house of a resident in the 10 block of Charleston Road at 3:44 a.m., police said.

The resident did not know the juvenile, deputy chief Kevin Simpson of the Hinsdale Police Department said, and had not given him permission to be in the home.

The juvenile was observed by police to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test. He was released to a parent.

Hit and Run

A complainant reported at 6:28 a.m. that a dark-colored vehicle struck his car while it was near the intersection of Hinsdale Avenue and Garfield Street and then fled the scene, police said.

The case is currently pending.

THURSDAY, NOV. 14

Hinsdale Central Worker Steals Coat

Sidronio Carvajal-Avendano, 51, of the 4500 block of North Drake Avenue, Chicago, was charged with stealing a $220 coat that a Hinsdale Central student had left in the school’s cafeteria, police said.

Carvajal-Avendano, who works at Hinsdale Central, was cleaning the cafeteria at 12:38 a.m. when he found the coat. He returned the coat to the victim after being charged and was released to appear in court.

Criminal Trespassing

A known female asked a resident of the 100 block of The Lane to see the inside of the resident’s home, which is for sale, after presenting a real estate agent’s business card that was not hers, police said.

The incident was reported at 5 p.m. The case is currently pending.
