Handgun from Burglary Found Outside Golf Club: Police Blotter

TUESDAY, JULY 23

Gun Found

Someone at 2:08 p.m. reported witnessing a male landscaper and another man find a handgun on the 100 block of Chicago Avenue. The handgun had a brown handle and was wrapped in cloth, according to the report. The two men were walking up a golf course driveway on the block.

The handgun was confirmed to be the one that was taken from the home in Hinsdale on July 23, police said. That is incident is still under investigation in Hinsdale.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 17

4-Year-Old Found Alone

A four-year-old girl was found at 5:23 p.m. walking alone on the 300 block of Ridge Avenue. The girl took off in the wrong direction after her siblings, according to police. The person who found her stayed with her until her siblings came looking for her while police left to respond to a car crash with injuries at 55th Street and Rich. The girl's father came to pick her up and spoke to police at the crash scene about the incident.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

Kids on Cages

A group of juveniles were reported at 8:41 p.m. to be on top of the batting cages on the 100 block of Walker Avenue. Police saw a group of about 20 kids playing in the field with two parents nearby. No one was on top of the cages when police arrived, but the kids did admit to being on a cage roof briefly, according to a report. The officer told them all to stay off the cages. All the kids agreed and many of them apologized, the report said.
