Former Dist. 181 Custodian Charged With Oak School Laptop Theft

Hinsdale police reports, June 7

A 22-year-old Glendale Heights man is accused of taking a $1,800 laptop from Oak School, according to police.

Andrew J. Rebel, of the 400 block of 2nd Plaza, was charged with theft. An acquaintance of Rebel's, Bradley J. Walker, 20, of the 100 block of East Lincoln Avenue, Glendale Heights, received the same charge.

Rebel was employed by School District 181 as a custodian and Walker was in possession of the laptop, according to a police report. The laptop was reported missing from the Oak School library office on the 900 block of South Oak Street.

The theft occurred sometime between 3:15 p.m. April 25 and 9:30 a.m. April 29. Rebel and Walker were issued and served arrest warrants on June 7. 

"The investigators relied upon the support and cooperation of district officials and staff in the identification of the suspect(s)," Hinsdale Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka wrote in an e-mail. He declined to provide additional information at this time pending the court prosecution.
