Ex-Boyfriend Steals Pet Snake, Charged with Burglary: Police Blotter

MONDAY, JUNE 17

Baseball and Spray Paint Vandalism

Someone entered a storage area on the 500 block of East Walnut Street and removed baseballs and a bottle of spray paint. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. June 16 and 8:30 a.m. June 17. The baseballs were thrown about the baseball field and the paint was sprayed on the storage building and electrical box to the scoreboard, according to police. A case is pending.

DUI, Speeding

John K. Murray, 51, of the 500 block of West 32nd Street, Chicago, was charged with the following: 

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Speeding
  • Failure to signal
  • Driving while license suspended

Police at 1:49 a.m. stopped Murray at Ogden Avenue and Route 83 for speeding, according to a report. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine blood alcohol level. He was charged and released to appear in court.

SATURDAY, JUNE 15

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone damaged two landscaping lights worth $25 total in a front yard on the 400 block of South Grant Street. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. June 14 and 6 a.m. June 15, police said.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14

Hit and Run

Someone hit the stop sign at 4:54 p.m. at the intersection of Chicago and Madison in his or her Pontiac Sunbird and then drove away.

THURSDAY, JUNE 13

Gucci Sunglasses Theft

A pair of Gucci sunglasses valued at $300 was taken from a store at 4:05 p.m. on the first block of Village Pl. An employee thinks she was intentionally distracted by a suspect while another suspect stole the sunglasses, police said.

Pump and Run

Someone drove off at 3:45 p.m. without paying for $68 worth of gas at a gas station on the first block of Chicago Avenue.

DUI, Failure to Yield 

Joseph Kuspar, 59, of the 500 block of Columbia Road, Hinsdale, was charged with DUI alcohol and failure to yield at an intersection. Police arrested Kuspar after they were dispatched at 7:08 a.m. to a car accident on the 500 block of Columbia Road.

Kuspar was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine blood alcohol level, police said. He was charged and released to appear in court.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12

Ex Comes Back for the Snake

Michael A. Gonzalez, 30, of the 500 block of East Bailey, Naperville, was charged with residential burglary at 10:40 a.m. Gonzalez was arrested at the Hinsdale Police Department following an investigation into an Aug. 12, 2012, incident on the 500 block of Mills Street. Gonzalez is accused of entering his ex's unlocked home and taking a pet snake valued at $450, according to police.

TUESDAY, JUNE 11

Candlestick Holder Theft

Someone took a $250 brass candlestick holder from a home on the 100 block of East Maple. The incident occurred sometime between 8:30 a.m. and noon. The woman hired people off of Craigslist to help her pack and load household items, police said. Another one of the hired hands took a shotgun from her and is now in the DuPage County Jail.
