DuPage DUI Arrests, Aug. 18 Edition

July 28: Alex Thervil, 26, of the 9100 block of South Bennett Avenue, Chicago, was charged with DUI. Thervil was arrested at 3:45 a.m. at a gas station on the 16W600 block of South Frontage Road. He was found asleep at the wheel of his 2001 Lexus with the engine running in front of a gas pump, according to police.

July 22: Anthony Vasquez, 33, of the 700 block of Westwind Drive, New Lenox, was charged with DUI. Vasquez was initially stopped at 12:58 a.m. at County Line Road and Carriage and cited for disobeying a no U-turn sign, according to police.

July 15: Juan Caballero, 39, of the 4900 block of South Keeler Avenue, Chicago, was charged with DUI and driving while license revoked. Caballero was arrested at 1:04 a.m. at I-55 and I-294 after he was seen following other vehicles too closely and crossing over the lines several times, according to police. He was also cited for following too closely, failure to signal when changing lanes, and improper lane usage.

Aug. 11: Jeffrey E. Nelson, of the 2100 block of Green Valley, Darien, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. at Downers and Butterfield Road. Nelson was charged with DUI alcohol with a BAC greater than .08 and screeching tires. His black Pontiac G6 was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 11 court date in Wheaton.

ELMHURST

Aug. 11:

  • Andres Zuniga-Sanchez, 31, of the 2300 block of South Hamlin, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without a license, driving without insurance, improper lane use and illegal transportation of alcohol after police received a call for a reckless driver at York and Madison at 9:28 p.m. He was released on bond.
  • Joe Taylor, 43, of the 700 block of Biermann, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his white Dodge Ram for improper lane use at Lake Street and Route 83 at 9:39 a.m. He was released on bond.

Aug. 10: Sharad Gupta, 39, of the 4600 block of Granfield, St. Charles, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police were called for a driver passed out behind the wheel of a white Honda Pilot at 2:20 a.m. Before police arrived, Gupta allegedly woke up and drove westbound, striking multiple construction barricades. He was finally stopped at North and Highview, police said. He was released on bond.

Aug. 9: Stephen A. Ferrara, 73, of the 300 block of North Charlotte, Lombard, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol after the red Ford Taurus he was driving was involved in an accident with a 60-year-old Elmhurst man at St. Charles and Berkley at 5:25 p.m. Ferrara also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond.

GLEN ELLYN

Aug. 10: Jon Paul Pere, 32, of the 700 block of Glenbard Road, Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device. Pere was arrested at 1:54 a.m. on the 600 block of Roosevelt Road.

LEMONT

Aug. 3: Jose L. Barrera, 43, of the 2000 block of Whitecliffe Drive, Romeoville, was arrested at 11:58 p.m. following a traffic stop at New Avenue and Lockport Street. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Barrera was issued a Sept. 17 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

WHEATON

July 13: Police charged Logan Michael Heinlein, 21, of the 1200 block of Prairie, Wheaton, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Heinlein was driving his gray 2005 Ford Escape at 2:07 a.m. at Childs and West when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 9: Police charged Harry Hass, 65, of the 900 block of Glenbard Road, Glen Ellyn, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Hass was driving his blue 2010 Toyota Yaris at 12:53 a.m. at East Loop and Butterfield Road when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 8: Police charged Jessica Louise Beck, 33, of the 700 block of Pershing Avenue, Wheaton, with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Beck was driving a black 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander at 4:39 p.m. at Butterfield and Naperville roads when police initiated a traffic stop, according to a report. She was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that evening.

July 7:

  • Police charged Daniel R. Johnston, 38, of the first block of 1N Franklin, Wheaton, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Johnston was driving his gray 2008 Toyota Corolla at 3:15 a.m. at County Farm and Manchester roads when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police charged Ahmed B. Famuditimi, 29, of the 1100 block of Cambia Drive, Schaumburg, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Famuditimi was driving his gray 2009 Toyota Camry at 12:58 a.m. at Orchard and Butterfield roads when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 6: Police charged Roger B. Hughes, 60, of the 300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, Glen Ellyn, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Hughes was driving his silver or aluminum 2002 Chevrolet Camaro at 12:31 a.m. at Driving Park and Geneva Road when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 5: Police charged Jeremy Lemmons, 25, of the 900 block of South Ashland, Chicago, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Lemmons was driving his gray 2013 Toyota Camry at 12:44 a.m. at Naperville and Butterfield roads when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 4:

  • Police charged Sean R. Barnard, 28, of the 300 block of Ash Lane, Glen Ellyn, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Barnard was driving his black 2008 Pontiac G5 at 1:53 a.m. at Bradford and Butterfield Road when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police charged Augustine M. Hill, 30, of the 500 block of Juniper, Naperville, with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Hill was driving a white 1994 Ford Explorer at 12:15 a.m. at Blanchard and Taft when police initiated a traffic stop, according to a report. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

WOODRIDGE

July 28: William Hanen, 51, of the 2000 block of Prairie Drive, Woodridge, was charged with the following:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Illegal transportation of open alcohol
  • Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident
  • Operating an uninsured motor vehicle

Hanen was arrested following a traffic accident at about 2:40 p.m. at 87th Street and Woodward Avenue, police said.
