SUNDAY, DEC. 30

DUI Charges for Countryside Man

Brian C. Lee, 35, of the 1100 block of Plainfield Road, Countryside, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a stop for improper lane use near the intersection of 55th Street and County Line Road at 9:28 p.m., and failed an ensuing breath test, police said. He was released to appear in court.

Woman Violates Open-Container Rules

Barbara C. Gilbert, 58, of the 1100 block of North Oakley Court, Westmont, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane use after an open container of alcohol was discovered inside her vehicle during a stop near the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Route 83 at 1:07 a.m., police said. She was released to appear in court.

DUI for Hinsdale Driver

William T. Kopka, 29, of the 5800 block of South Garfield Avenue, Hinsdale, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a stop for improper lane use near the intersection of 57th and Madison streets at 1:34 a.m., and refused an ensuing breath test, police said.

In addition to DUI and improper lane use, police said, Kopka was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to yield. He was released to appear in court.

SATURDAY, DEC. 22

Clarendon Hills Man Charged with DUI

Alberto A. Sanchez, 32, of the 200 block of North Richmond Avenue, Clarendon Hills, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use in the 600 block of West 55th Street at 3:03 a.m., and refused to submit to breath test, police said.

Sanchez was charged with driving without a valid license in addition to DUI and improper lane use, and was released to appear in court.

FRIDAY, DEC. 21

Hinsdale Man Charged with 2nd DUI

Robert J. Drummond, 62, of the 300 block of West 59th Street, Hinsdale, was charged with aggravated DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use in the 300 block of West 59th Street at 1:05 a.m. and refused to submit to a breath test, police said.

Officers discovered Drummond’s license was suspended from a previous DUI, which led to them to up the charge to aggravated DUI. Police said they obtained a warrant ordering a blood-alcohol test and took Drummond to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital to complete it.

In addition to aggravated DUI, improper lane use and driving on a suspended license, he was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and transported to DuPage County Jail.

THURSDAY, DEC. 20

Cocaine Found at Gas Station

Three small bags filled with a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine were found by an employee near the cash register of the Shell station at 210 E. Ogden Ave. at 11:30 p.m., police said.

The bags, which were approximately 1 inch by 1 inch, were located near a rack of merchandise close to the gas station’s registers. An investigation was pending at the time of the report.
