Driver with Past Convictions Charged with Aggravated DUI

Theft, identity theft, and criminal damage to property are among other offenses recently reported by the Hinsdale Police Department.

Aggravated DUI—Nelson Perez, of 3327 S. 57th Ave. in Cicero, was arrested after he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use in the 5500 block of Holmes Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 6 and failed an ensuing breath test, according to the .

Perez, 43, had had his license revoked for previous DUI convictions, making his an aggravated DUI charge. He was charged with aggravated DUI, aggravated driving with a revoked license, improper lane use, and improper turn at an intersection. Perez was transported to DuPage County Jail for a bond hearing.

DUI—Elizabeth M. Soria, of 1237 W. 31st Pl. in Chicago, was charged with DUI after she was observed to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for speeding and improper lane usage in the 600 block of West 55th Street at 2:07 a.m. Feb. 5 and failed an ensuing breath test.

Soria, 25, was charged with DUI, speeding, and improper lane usage, and was released to appear in court.

Burglary to motor vehicle—An unknown suspect stole a cell phone and cell phone case worth a total of $874 from the front seat of an unlocked vehicle parked at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital between 8 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Feb. 3.

Theft—An unknown suspect stole a rear Illinois dealer license plate from a “loaner” car at Land Rover of Hinsdale, 300 E. Ogden Ave., while the car was parked and unoccupied between 12 p.m. Jan. 24 and 9 a.m. Jan. 31.

Identity theft—An unknown suspect attempted to transfer approximately $1,850 from a single victim’s three Chase checking accounts into a separate Chase account.

A Chase representative reported the incident to the victim at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30. The funds were returned and the victim suffered no dollar loss.

Criminal damage to property—A victim in the 10 block of Charleston Road reported to police that an unknown victim wrote profanity with permanent marker on her home’s garage door between 12:35 a.m. and 9:42 a.m. Feb. 5.

The cost of the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

Criminal damage to property—An employee of Cosi Restaurant, 25 E. Hinsdale Ave., reported to police that a group of juveniles damaged a wooden fence that surrounds the restaurant’s dumpster between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 3.

The cost of the damage was unknown at the time of the report.
