Driver Hits Tree, Charged With DUI

Klari H. Senk Templeton, 25, of the 100 block of East Fourth Street, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police at 8:53 p.m. were dispatched at Fourth and Elm streets for a traffic crash in which a car struck a tree, according to a report.

Police located an open bottle of alcohol in Senk Templeton's vehicle. Senk Templeton was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine blood alcohol level. The arrestee was charged and released to appear in court.

SUNDAY, JUNE 9

DUI, Improper Lane Use

Victor M. Medina, 27, of the 6100 block of Knoll Valley Drive, Willowbrook, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Police at 3:19 a.m. stopped Medina at 55th and Monroe streets for improper lane use, according to a report. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine blood alcohol level. He was charged and released to appear in court.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

DUI, Speeding

Arturo Garza, 36, of the 4000 block of South Montgomery Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding 60 mph in a 35 mph-zone, according to a police report. Police at 12:49 a.m. stopped Garza at Madison Street and Ogden Avenue for speeding. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test to determine blood alcohol level. He was charged and released to appear in court.

FRIDAY, JUNE 7

Thief Denied Stolen Debit Card Use

An unknown suspect who attempted to use a woman's debit card in a transaction was denied because the card wasn't activated, police said. The suspect stole the debit card and an insurance card after entering the woman's unlocked vehicle while it was parked in her driveway on the 300 block of Springlake. The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. June 6 and 9:10 a.m. June 7.

There was no money loss at the time of the report, and a case is pending.


SATURDAY, JUNE 1

Woman Gets Fake Check

A woman on the 300 block of West 59th Street received an unsolicited email that offered her money in exchange for having an energy drink advertisement wrapped on her car. She received a check in the mail and was instructed to cash the check and then mail the excess money via money order. She was advised by her bank that the check was fictitious after she sent $1,895 via money order, according to police.
