Court Watch: Trial Scheduled for Glen Ellyn Cellular Antenna Dispute

Patch recaps the week that was in DuPage County court for Oct. 24 to Oct. 28.

Glen Ellyn—A Jan. 6 bench trial was scheduled in over whether the village followed its own ordinance for approving a cell antenna installation on a water tower. The case, which was in court on Oct. 26 when the judge set the trial date, stems from a broader 2008 lawsuit over installation of the equipment. A portion of the suit was returned to the circuit court by appellate judges earlier this year.

Naperville
—A man accused in the has declined to participate in a mental fitness evaluation ordered in his case, court records show. Alexander Georg is charged with trying to strangle his mother and then stabbing her during an incident at their home in August. Georg has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder, aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery. He remains in DuPage County Jail on $1.5 million bail. A judge has set a hearing on the progress of the evaluation attempt for Dec. 5.

Wheaton—A 72-year-old Wheaton man pleaded not guilty on Oct. 24 to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a young girl in 2007, records show. Glenn Camp, last of the 200 block of South Morgan, was recently indicted on the charges he grabbed the girl's buttocks more than four years ago. Camp is free on $35,000 bail with orders to stay away from the Morgan Street address and to have no contact with any females under the age of 18. He returns to court Nov. 21.

Woodridge—The scheduled trial of was postponed until January after a brief hearing on Oct. 24. Sunitha Budithi was arrested in May after a fire started at inside the family's home. Prosecutors allege Budithi left her two children alone in the residence at the time of a fire, which reportedly was ignited by a candle. She has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.
