Construction Site, Home and Automobiles Targeted by Thieves

Items from the Hinsdale police blotter.

Hinsdale police dealt with several incidents of theft over the last week.

A homeowner on the 200 block of S. Clay Street reported the theft of a Rolex watch from his home. The watch, valued at $4,000 according to the police report, is believed to have been stolen between July 4 and Aug. 5. According to the police report there was no visible signs of forced entry to the house. The homeowner speculated the item may have been taken by individuals who had authorized access to the home at the time. There are no suspects in the crime.

In addition to the theft from the home, there were also reports of thefts from automobiles in town.

Two hubcaps were stolen from a 1997 Buick Century that was parked near the intersection of 57th Street and Foxgate Lane. The automobile owner reported the theft Aug. 26, but speculated the incident occurred sometime between June 25 and June 26. The hubcaps are valued at $140.

On Aug. 26 a car owner reported an unknown suspect took a leather purse from a GMC Acadia while it was parked unoccupied in the Robbins Park Parking Lot on 8th Street.

Items in the purse included a Blackberry Bold cell phone, Maui Jim Sun Glasses, Brown Marc Jacobs Sunglasses, and a wallet with drivers license, credit cards and $300 cash. The theft happened between 4:20 p.m. and 4:40 p.m.

Five metal B-Boxes were stolen from a construction site on County Line Road. According to the police report the B-Boxes were in a wooden crate left near the road over the weekend. A B-Box is a metal telescoping piece of equipment plumbers use for water and sewer projects. There are no suspects, but police are investigating.
