D181 Student's Comment About Staff Member Gets Police Attention

An investigation is ongoing and police are releasing few details about the comment and the student and staff member involved.

The words of a District 181 student to his or her parent about a District 181 staff member has become the subject of a Hinsdale Police Department investigation, but few details have been publicly released.

District 181 administration contacted police at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29, the department's weekly crime report states, regarding a report from a parent about a comment his or her child made that referenced a District 181 staff member.

An investigation is ongoing, police said, and the child’s age and residence are currently being withheld to protect the identities of both the child and staff member.

No information about the nature of the comment or the position of the staff member is being released at this time.

District 181 communications director Bridget McGuiggan said the district does not have any further comment on details of the incident. She said administration has not sent any letters or emails to parents about it.

"If we thought there was a danger, then it’s something we would communicate as we’re able to," McGuiggan said.
