SUNDAY, JUNE 24

Two Cited for Consumption of Alcohol by Minors

Two 19-year-olds were cited for illegal consumption of liquor by minors after Clarendon Hills police stopped the car they were riding eastbound at Ogden Avenue and Route 83 at about 12:17 a.m. Zachary Shorner of Forest Park and Mark Cyrax of Naperville were cited under a village ordinance. The driver, Brian Gambino, 19, of Westchester was ticketed for improper number of passengers (four) in the rear seat. Police said the car was going 48 mph in a 35-mph zone, but did not ticket the driver for speeding. They said the two cited in the rear seat had a strong smell of alcohol on their breath.

Police Shut Down Late-Night Soccer

Police told a group of youngsters to stop playing soccer and leave at about 12:38 a.m. in a parking lot on the 200 block of north Richmond because neighbors had complained  about the noise.

Spoon With Burnt Residue Found in Bathroom

A customer at Starbucks, 100 Park Ave., found a spoon with burnt residue, believed used for drugs, in the men’s bathroom at about 6:51 p.m. Police were to destroy the spoon.

Wallet Stolen from Vehicle

A wallet was taken overnight out of a vehicle parked on the 0-100 block of McIntosh Avenue. Clarendon Hills police were notified.

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Resident Loses $4,400 in ‘Grandson’ Bail Scam

A Clarendon Hills resident, who received a call the previous day saying his grandson was in jail and needs money to be bonded out, wired $4,400. He was going to send more June 21 but did not when a clerk at Dominick’s said it was a scam.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20

Car Window Smashed

The window of a car parked on the 200 block of Railroad was found smashed at about 11:47 a.m.

Unlocked Car Broken Into

An unlocked car in the driveway of a home on the 300 block of Ruby was entered overnight and a pink auxiliary cord worth $10 was stolen, according to a report filed with police.
