Clarendon Hills Man Arrested For String of Naperville Burglaries

The Clarendon Hills resident is believed to be responsible for a string of commercial burglaries in Naperville the last week of March.

Ten burglaries took place at Naperville businesses between March 27 and March 31 at businesses along 75th Street. There was one burglary on North Route 59.

Naperville Police say that in each case, someone used an object to shatter the glass of a storefront in the late evening or early morning hours and stole cash.

The Naperville Police Department launched an intensive investigation that included reassigning investigators and running saturated patrols at locations that might be targeted.

On April 1, around 1:15 a.m., Naperville Police officers noticed a man who had a large rock near a business on the 1500 block of West Ogden Avenue.

The officers identified him as Michael J. Carvell, 30, of Clarendon Hills. After an investigation, police arrested Carvell. Additional information was gathered, which led to Carvell being charged with seven counts of burglary, a Class 2 felony and one count of attempted burglary, a class 3 felony.

Carvell is currently in custody at the Naperville Police Department awaiting transfer to the DuPage County Jail.

The Naperville Police Department is coordinating an on-going investigation with authorities from several jurisdictions that have experienced similar commercial burglaries recently.
