CHPD's Boyd Farmer Promoted to Deputy Chief

Farmer has served the department since 1987, and has been a sergeant since 1998.

Clarendon Hills police officer Boyd Farmer was promoted from sergeant to deputy chief at Monday night's village board meeting.

Farmer has been with the Clarendon Hills Police Department since 1987. In addition to serving as a sergeant—a role he's held since 1998—Farmer has served as a detective, evidence technician, juvenile officer and DARE officer.

"Sergeant Farmer brings a plethora of law enforcement experience and supervisory skills to the deputy chief's office," Chief Ted Jenkins said Monday. "He will be a tremendous asset to me, the department and the village."

Farmer's parents, Jan and Jerry, his wife, Lenore, and his two children, Lauren and Ben, were on hand Monday night.

The deputy chief's office has been vacant since Jenkins was promoted to chief following the retirement of Pat Anderson in 2011.

"I’d just like to thank Chief Jenkins for having the confidence to give me a chance to do the job," Farmer said. "I’m going to do the job as well as anyone has done it here in Clarendon Hills."
