Money Stolen from Three Offices in Hinsdale Building: Police Blotter

Gift Cards Taken, Golf Clubs Not 

A burglar entered an unlocked car parked in the 100 block of north County Line Road and stole five $50 gift cards from the center console some time between 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Police said other valuables inside, including a set of golf clubs and numerous CDs and DVDs, were not taken. 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 8

Cash, Credit Card Stolen from Wallet

An unknown thief took $300 in cash and a credit card from the wallet of a customer at Whole Foods, 500 E. Ogden Ave., between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 1, a timeframe during which the customer accidentally left his wallet at the store.

The missing credit card was used to make three charges worth a combined $527.11. The wallet was found by a store employee and returned to the victim.

The incident was reported on Sept. 8.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 4

Three Offices Stolen From

An unknown thief took a total of $710 in cash and $70 in checks from three office suites in a building located in the 300 block of Chestnut Street between 12:15 p.m. Aug. 7 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 4.

Two of the thefts took place over the Labor Day weekend, police said, between Friday afternoon and Tuesday morning. A third was reported at the same time, but is believed to have happened Aug. 7 or Aug. 8.

No forced entry was made to any of the offices, which were all locked. Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said the department has not identified any suspects.

“But based upon the circumstances, it’s believed that it’s likely to be someone who had authorized access to the office building during that time period,” Wodka said.

All of the currency was located in office drawers. One drawer was unlocked, while two were locked and therefore damaged.
