Aggravated DUI, $3,000 Transmitter Theft: Police Blotter

Hinsdale police reports, April 27-May 6

MONDAY, MAY 6

DUI, Wrong Side of Road

Alexander L. Cummins, 43, of the 100 block of East Hickory, Hinsdale, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Police at 11:03 p.m. stopped Cummins at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue for driving on the wrong side of the road, according to a report. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test, police said. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Pricey Transmitter Theft

Someone took a radio detection transmitter from the parkway on the 800 block of West Fourth Street. The incident occurred sometime during a 30-minute period that began at 11:20 a.m., according to police. An employee of a store said the transmitter was a piece of work equipment and is valued between $3,000 and $4,000.

SATURDAY, MAY 4

Aggravated DUI, Criminal Damage

Kerry Bateman, 49, of the 300 block of 60th Ct, Willowbrook, was charged with felony DUI, driving while license revoked and criminal damage to property. Police at 10:58 p.m. were dispatched to a report of a van in a ditch on the northbound ramp to Route 83 from 55th Street. Bateman was found to be driving while his driver’s license was revoked and observed to be under the influence, police said. Bateman submitted a breath test over .08.

While in police custody, Bateman damaged computer equipment in the booking room. Bateman was charged with felony DUI and transported to the DuPage County Jail, where he remains on $2,000 bond.

THURSDAY, MAY 2

Missing $1,800 Laptop

An $1,800 laptop computer was reported missing from the library office at Oak School on the 900 block of South Oak Street. The theft was reported on this day and occurred between 3:15 p.m. April 25 and 9:30 a.m. April 29, according to police.

SATURDAY, APRIL 27

Disorderly Conduct

An eight-year-old girl reported to her parents that an unknown man had hit her in the head and leg while she was in her fenced backyard on the 800 block of Justina. 

The girl was unharmed and lacked any physical signs of being struck in the head or leg, police said. The male suspect is then alleged to have jumped a fence to get in and out of the yard, and ran from the area on foot.

The girl described the suspect as a white male, about 30 years of age, taller than 6 ft. 4 in. in height, heavy set, and wearing a white t-shirt, black leather vest, light colored blues jeans with rips in the front. He had brown eyes, bald, moustache and goatee, tattoos on left and right arms, tattoo on neck, lip ring, left ear pierced near top, plugs in ears, black and white bandana on forehead.

Investigators spoke with residents who were home in the area at the time of the incident. As of this report, there have been no corroborating witnesses that had seen the suspect in the area during the time of the incident occurred, police said.

There was a delay in the reporting of this incident.
