$8,500 in Jewelry Taken from Hospital Visitor: Police Blotter

FRIDAY, AUG. 17

Pain Meds Stolen

Three unknown persons, two male and one female, entered the Walgreens at 15 Grant Sq. and stole an unknown amount of over-the-counter pain medication at 1:08 p.m., according to police.

Police said the suspects were captured on surveillance video taking the items. A complete list of missing items was not available at the time of the report.

THURSDAY, AUG. 16

Home Break-in 

An unknown burglar kicked in the front door of a residence in the 400 block of West 8th Street and stole several items from the home between 5:55 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The residents were not home at the time of the break-in. The value of the missing items was unknown at the time of the report.

TUESDAY, AUG. 14

Village Signs Missing

An unknown person removed four crosswalk signs from their posts on Walnut Street between Justina and Phillippa streets at 7:48 p.m.

Wallet Taken

A customer of BP Amoco, 149 E. Ogden Ave., reported losing his wallet at 9:34 p.m. after leaving it unattended on the front counter of the gas station for 20 minutes.

Police say the customer forgot his wallet on the counter after making a purchase, and did not realize it for 20 minutes after he had left the gas station. The wallet is valued at $50, and contained a driver’s license and credit card.

MONDAY, AUG. 13

Hospital Visitor Loses Pricey Rings

A visitor to RML Specialty Hospital reported to police losing three rings worth a combined $8,544 when she left them on a ledge in a patient's room from 8:25 p.m. Aug. 8 to 6 a.m. Aug. 9.

The visitor was not at the hospital during that time frame. She had removed the rings to comfortably assist the patient and placed them on a ledge above a window. She forgot about them until the next morning.

Deputy Chief Kevin Simpson said the thief could have been anyone who was in the hospital during that timeframe. There are no suspects, and the case is under investigation.
