$42,000 Watch Stolen from Hinsdale Home

Spitting in the face of a hospital security guard is also among the crimes recently reported to the Hinsdale Police Department.

Theft—A $42,200 watch was stolen from a male victim in the 600 block of East 6th Street between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to the .

Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said two contractors had authorized access to the home for renovation work when the Patek Philippe watch was taken from the victim’s bedroom closet.

Wodka would not say if the watch was secured in the closet, but he did say the victim has a collection of watches he keeps in the same place.

The case is currently under investigation.

Battery—A known female patient at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital is suspected of spitting in the face of a hospital security guard and pushing a hospital social worker at 10:45 p.m. Sept. 18, but her charges are pending and her identity has not been released.

Battery—Five Hinsdale male juveniles, four 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old, were charged with battery after throwing eggs at several female juveniles near the intersection of 2nd and Grant streets at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

The suspects threw the eggs from a black GMC SUV. The five were charged and then released to appear in court. 

Wodka said nobody was hurt in the incident, but that "mischevious behavior" such as this can be dangerous.

"If one of the victims was struck by the eggs in the face, it could cause some serious injury, particularly when thrown from a moving vehicle at high speed," Wodka said.
