3 DUIs, 69 Seatbelt Violations Reported During Recent Hinsdale Crackdown

The Memorial Day crackdown period ran from May 10 to May 27.

The Hinsdale Police Department charged three people with DUI and 69 for not wearing a seatbelt during a Memorial Day crackdown between May 10 and May 27, according to a Monday morning release sent out by the department.

There were 42 speeding citations handed out, according to the release, along with two for underage consumption of alcohol and one each for cannabis possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to restrain a child, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and being out past curfew.

There were 58 other Illinois Vehicle Code violations reported, as well.

"The Hinsdale Police Department received a state grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to participate in this effort," the release reads. "Grant funding allows the police department to assign additional officers for dedicated enforcement of the seat belt, driving under the influence and speed laws."

Clarendon Hills police reported one DUI charge and 52 seatbelt violations during the same crackdown period.
