2 DUIs, 35 Seatbelt-Violation Citations Reported During Hinsdale Crackdown

The Thanksigiving period of increased enforcement ran from Nov. 12 through Nov. 25.

The following is a release from the Hinsdale Police Department:

In an effort to save lives and reduce serious injuries, the Hinsdale Police Department, along with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country, participated in an enforcement initiative to crackdown on drunk and unbelted drivers. 

During the aggressive enforcement period that ran from Nov. 12 through Nov. 25, two drivers were arrested for DUI, 26 motorists were issued citations for failing to wear their safety belts, 35 motorists were issued citations for speeding, and 66 motorists were issued citations for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

The Hinsdale Police Department received a state grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to participate in this effort.  Grant funding allows the police department to assign additional officers for dedicated enforcement of the seat belt and speed laws.
