$2,000 in Microphones Stolen from Church on Christmas Eve

Domestic battery, deceptive practice, DUI, and theft of exterior decoration are also among the offenses recently reported by the Clarendon Hills Police Department.

Theft—An unknown suspect stole three microphones worth $2,000 from Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Ave., while the church was open and unlocked between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 24, according to the .

Being Christmas Eve, Detective Ed Leinweber said, people were in and out of the church during the day. The theft was reported at 2:58 p.m.

Domestic battery—Charles N. Wagner, of 121 Ann St. in Clarendon Hills, was arrested and charged with battery after the 18-year-old allegedly punched his juvenile sister at the above address at 7:48 p.m. Dec. 19.

Wagner was transported to DuPage County Jail. His sister refused medical attention. 

Deceptive practice—Approximately $200 in unauthorized withdrawals was taken from a Clarendon Hills resident's checking account by a known suspect and used to pay the suspect's bills.

The withdrawals were reported to police at 6:27 p.m. Dec. 24. Charges against the suspect are pending, Leinweber said.

DUI—Alberto A. Sanchez, of 285 N. Richmond Ave. in Clarendon Hills, was charged with DUI after he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane usage at Blackhawk Drive and Chicago Avenue at 12:41 a.m. Dec. 24. 

Leinweber said Sanchez, 31, was pulled over after driving in the wrong lane. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. He was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, and driving without a valid driver's license.

Theft—A light-up peacock home decoration was reported stolen from the backyard of a house in the 200 block of Holmes Avenue at 4:44 p.m. Dec. 22.
