Boy on Bike Hit By Car in Clarendon Hills

The 17-year-old driver's vision was affected by bright sunlight at the time of the accident, Clarendon Hills Police Chief Ted Jenkins said.

A 12-year-old Clarendon Hills boy on a bike was hit by a car at the intersection of Middaugh Road and Chicago Avenue Wednesday morning at 7:43 a.m., according to Clarendon Hills Police Chief Ted Jenkins. 

The car was driven by a 17-year-old male juvenile from Clarendon Hills whose vision while turning left at the light from southbound Middaugh to eastbound Chicago was affected by bright sunlight. Jenkins said the 12-year-old Clarendon Hills Middle School student was crossing Chicago in the crosswalk when the collision occurred. 

The 12-year-old was transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jenkins said the driver has not been cited, but an investigation is ongoing.
