Hinsdale Obituaries: Helen Gialdini, 73

The obituaries of the following Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills residents were recently featured on Legacy.com:

Helen Marie Gialdini, 73, of Hinsdale, was the wife Richard, mother of Matthew and Marcie, and grandmother of Shane. A visitation is being held Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside. Prayers will be made at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hallowell & James before a 10 a.m. mass at St. Isaac Jogues Church. An obituary for Ms. Gialdini was published in the Chicago Tribune on Nov. 24. 

Patricia Patrick Parker, 88, a resident of Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale and Willowbrook since 1958, died on Nov. 18. She was the wife of the late William M. Parker, Jr., mother of Bill Parker, John Parker, Amy Kerr and Chris Parker, and grandmother and step-grandmother of seven. Ms. Parker graduated from Denison University. A memorial service was held on Nov. 23 at Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills. Contributions to the Community Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund are appreciated. An obituary for Ms. Parker was published in the Chicago Tribune on Nov. 21.

William "Bill" Edward Vaughan, a long time resident of Hinsdale, died on Nov. 21 in his Chicago home. Mr. Vaughan is survived by wife Ann and daughters Claudia and Natalie. A memorial visitation is being held on Friday, Nov. 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Adolf Funeral Home, Ltd., in Willowbrook, with a service at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Vaughan will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. Donations to the Hazelden Foundation are encouraged. An obituary for Mr. Vaughan was published in the Chicago Tribune on Nov. 27.

Betty J. Buik, 86, formerly of Oak Brook and Elmhurst, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. Beloved wife of Donald W. Buik for 65 years; loving mother of Nancy (Jeff), Richard (Patricia), Christine (Jim) and James (Teresa); proud grandmother of Mark, Anna, Mollie, Steven, Will, Julia, Katie and Daniel.  Born in Chicago on May 8, 1927 and preceded in death by parents, Agnes and William Jakoubek, and sister, Mildred Gotsch.  Prior to a lengthy illness, she was active in community organizations including PEO, AAUW, Camp Fire, and teaching ESL. In 1993, she received the Founders Medal from her alma mater, Elmhurst College. Special joys included music, travel, her garden and faithful dog, Max.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel United Church of Christ; 315 E. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, IL; visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Buik Endowed Scholarship Fund, Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
