Hinsdale Death Notices: WWII Veteran George Helfrich, 95

The obituaries of the following Hinsdale residents were recently featured on Legacy.com:

George Helfrich, 95, of Hinsdale, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the husband of Irene Helfrich and the late Genevieve Helfrich. Mr. Helfrich is the father of Judy Mellen, John Helfrich, James Helfrich and Jackie Mueller. He is a grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of six. Visitation was held Oct. 27 and a funeral service was held Oct. 28 at Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield. Mr. Helfrich was laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. An obituary for Mr. Helfrich was published in the Chicago Tribune on Oct. 25.

Margaret Eleanore Kolzow died on Oct. 16 at the age of 98. Born and raised in Downers Grove, Ms. Kolzow managed Hinsdale Middle School's cafeteria for 30 years and catered in the area during holiday seasons. Preceded in death by her husband, John C. Kolzow, Ms. Kolzow is survived by her sons, William, Richard, James and Ronald, as well as her brother, Emery Wolff. Funeral services took place at Zion Lutheran Church in Hinsdale on Oct. 21. An obituary for Ms. Kolzow was published in the Oct. 24 edition of The Doings.
