From the Trenches: Has the Real Estate Market Heated Up?

Question: Has the real estate market "heated up?"

Answer: The market is beginning to come back to life and the statistics are looking more positive. Since Feb. 1, 123 single-family homes have been listed for sale with the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) in the Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills area. Of the 123 listed properties, 28 have gone under contract with buyers and four have closed. Thus, 26 percent of the new listings have already been removed from the market.

I believe you will read more about this in the coming weeks, but, from the trenches where many realtors work, it’s a hot market! Buyers know it; the homes they have saved to view on their favorite iPhone or Android app now pop up "UNDER CONTRACT"! In fact, there have been several recent occurrences of multiple offers on properties.

These 123 homeowners have learned from the past and listed their homes for sale at aggressive, more realistic prices. Currently, it’s not a seller’s market, but if indications come to the forefront, it might be turning into a more civilized and balanced sales environment for all.
