Burr Ridge Rocker Jim Peterik & Sandy Hook School Charity Song

Burr Ridge rocker Jim Peterik gathers other local rockers for charity song

When news of the Sandy Hook school shootings in Connecticut broke in December, legendary singer/songwriter Jim Peterik did what he does best, he wrote a song.

Peterik - a Grammy Award-winner - wrote the song "Newtown(You're Not Alone)" with singer/songwriter Marc Scherer and it's now available on iTunes.

Instead of a somber ballad, the sorrowful song goes against all expectations and is surprisingly upbeat. A music video was just filmed in Aurora on January 27th and will be released soon.

Local rock star Jim Peterik is best-known for his groups The Ides Of March & Survivor, while local rock star Marc Scherer is best known for the group Love Craft. Joe Jammer Wright - a 3rd local rock star & legendary guitarist - is also on the song and he's best-known for working with Jerry Lee Lewis & Stealers Wheel and touring with Led Zeppelin.

Jim Peterik won a Grammy Award (and Oscar nomination) for his Survivor song "Eye Of The Tiger" from the movie Rocky III...among his many other hits is "Vehicle" with The Ides Of March.

100% of the proceeds will support the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund" of Newtown, Connecticut. For more details on the artists - or to download "Newtown (You’re Not Alone)" - please visit the links below.
