Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Greeting Births With Lullaby

Hinsdale – The birth of a baby is cause for celebration. A new initiative at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital aims to spread the good news of each new arrival hospital-wide with the playing of a brief Brahm’s lullaby interlude.

Launched on June 17, Father’s Day, the new tradition reminds all hospital staff, patients, and visitors to rejoice for the miracle of life. Every employee can now know and share in the excitement of new parents when they hear the lullaby being played on the hospital’s public address system.

“Bringing a new baby, a new miracle into this world, holds such special meaning. As healthcare professionals, we are so honored to be a part of this wondrous experience in a family’s life. We want the family to be able to express that immediate joyous celebration,” said Betty Sue Netzel, director of women and children’s services.

“Each time that a lullaby is heard, smiles will light up on many faces knowing that God has graced us with another one of His children,” said Jan Barnum, nurse manager of women and children’s services.

Located in the Labor and Delivery unit, an electronic button can be pressed by Dad giving him the opportunity to share his joy with the rest of the hospital. 

With more than 2,200 babies delivered at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital every year, there is certainly cause for excitement. The new patient pavilion, which opened in March, features updated labor and delivery suites, some with whirlpool tubs to promote relaxation, and new postpartum suites.
