Waterford Signing Event

Meet Waterford Master Cutter, Michael Vereker on December 2nd, at the Char Crews, Inc. location in Hinsdale.  This unique signing event will offer Char Crews customers the rare opportunity to add value and personal significance to Waterford items purchased as Bridal Gifts, Holiday Gifts, Baby Gifts or to pieces for your own Waterford collection. 

Michael will be in our Hinsdale showroom Friday December 2nd, from 11 am to 3pm to speak with customers and sign Waterford Crystal Items purchased from Char Crews, between now and December 2nd.  Items purchased in the Char Crews Wilmette location can be sent to Hinsdale for signing and returned to Wilmette.  Waterford items purchased on Charcrews.com can be held for signing and shipped after this rare event.

Each piece will be signed with the Artisan's signature and "2011".  A special or special date such as a Wedding Date can be specified.  All signed pieces will include a certificate of authenticity.   Each Waterford piece will be signed in the most appropriate and convenient place as decided by the Artisan.  Each piece will be engraved with a precision crystal etching tool.

Join us as we introduce for the first time; the new Waterford Snowflake Wishes Collection of flutes and ornaments.  2011 will be the first in a 10 year series, and we will be featuring the "Wishes for Joy" collection that may be personalized as the perfect holiday gift.

Michael has been selected to represent The House of Waterford Crystal overseas as an ambassador of Waterford. He hopes to enlighten as many consumers as possible to the joys of possessing Waterford Crystal.  During his career as a Master Cutter, Michael has hand cut magnificent items, which span the entire repertoire of Waterford Crystal.

Born in Kilkenny and educated in Waterpark College, Waterford, Michael joined Waterford Crystal in 1972.  For the next five years he served his apprenticeship with an experienced Master Cutter learning to cut the various patterns in the Waterford Crystal range, and was qualified as a cutter after a practical examination on his own Apprentice Bowl.

 

With a further three years experience cutting pieces such as 14” Oval Bowls (Kennedy Bowls). Wine Decanters, Guinness Trophies and Old Waterford period pieces he was deemed a Master Cutter.  This work calls for an artistic eye and a steady hand. In Michael’s own words “I find cutting crystal very artistic, very hands on and very fulfilling”. 
During his career as a Master Cutter, Michael has hand cut magnificent items, which span the entire repertoire of Waterford Crystal.  He worked in a special area which is dedicated to exclusive items such as “The Romance of Ireland Collection”, The American Heritage Series” and numerous “Waterford Society” pieces.

Michael lives in Kilmacow, a village outside Waterford with his wife Ann, daughter Marilyn and son Kevin.

His hobbies include golf, indoor soccer and gardening.  He completed his Diploma in Industrial Engineering and is a fellow of the Irish / American Institute of Industrial Engineers.
